SCOTUS: President can remove FTC Commissioners at will (6-3).

When the President fired two FTC Commissioners, he did not comply with the statute which says they may be removed only "for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office." One of them sued, and the trial court permanently enjoined her removal.

The US Supreme Court (6-3) reversed. The Court said, "We hold that such protection from removal is contrary to the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution."

Of course, this will apply to NLRB Members as well.

I’m wondering why it’s the conservatives, not the liberals, who are upholding the separation of powers principle that we learned in grade school.
